M-1 Global announces plans for May 3 event in Chicago

The date in April has been pushed back to May and could even be pushed further back to June if M-1 Global cannot get its act together. The short of it is that nothing is set in stone as of right now. It is looking less likely that Fedor will fight Schilt in the USA. Rumored opponents now include Arlovski and Rothwell. A lot will depend on Arlovski's performance in UFC 82. There is also no official word yet on whether Barnett will be fighting A. Emelianenko on the same card. Couture's UFC contract expires in July, and he has expressed an interest in fighting Fedor this Fall or at New Years. I believe Fedor-Couture will happen this year.

Frank Mir ranks Nogueria #1

Frank Mir was interviewed by Gary Herman of CBS Sports when he said he thinks Nogueira is the top-ranked heavyweight fighter in the world (see below). He based this statement on Nogueria being the heavyweight champion in best organization in the world, the UFC, as well as the lack of quality in MMA fights outside the UFC. In short, he who fights the best and beats the best should be ranked number 1. I don't disagree with this last statement, but it doesn't lead me to conclusion that Nogueira should be the number 1 ranked heavyweight in the world.

Dan Henderson analysis

Dan Henderson's best move is his greco-roman clinch where he performs the body lock on his opponent and uses his strength to take them down and then proceeds to punish his opponent. Henderson is relentless about moving forward when he fights. Henderson should be able to move Anderson Silva into the cage with his greco-roman clinch, right hand, and the ability to take strikes with his tough chin. Henderson has never been knocked out. He moves forward and shakes the confidence of his opponents who expect their strikes to do damage to him.

Anderson Silva analysis

It is well known that Anderson Silva's biggest strength is long arms and legs. He is very good at taking advantage of his reach and controlling distance. But his long limbs could also be a disadvantage if he is ever in the top position. He would be vulnerable to an arm bar or guillotine choke and it would be easier to bridge out of the triangle choke if he is on top. In short, allowing him to sit in guard may work greatly to Dan Henderson's advantage.

UFC 82: Dan Henderson v. Anderson Silva

Henderson matches up very well with Silva. Silva's strength is his standup, and he wins most of his fights by TKO with a good combination of knees, kicks, and punches. But Henderson has qualities that set him apart from the competition Silva has faced thus far in the UFC; he is a two-time Olympian in Greco-Roman, and with his chin and his edge in grappling, he should be able to take down Silva without that much trouble. His body lock is greater than the Thai clinch. Moreover, Henderson has yet to be knocked out, and he has also beaten some very good strikers in the past.

Fedor Emelianenko v. Semmy Schilt - FINAL ROUND

This was Fedor's first fight in Pride. This fight was on the Pride 21 card. Schilt lost this fight on points. Fedor was able to take him down many times, but coudn't do much with him on the ground. Schilt was able to defend Fedor's submission attempts.

Kettlebell basics

The swing is the fundamental move in kettlebell training. The core creates the momentum. It is superior to traditional weightlifting moves because there is much more of an aerobic component to the exercise and the swing uses the whole core.
