WVU and Big East Foot Ball
I wanted to make a little home to talke about the best brand of football. (plus see if we was really being googled) lol
Does any one else thing its strange that the Big East continued to steam roll trough BCS games, even after the "gods" left them but they lost there bid? Have they lost a BCS game since Miami left? I can't think of one.

sorry eers, this is a topic you and i will be arguing a lot over.
and maybe its mostly perception, but 2 years ago when west virginia, louisville, and rutgers made some noise in the bcs, it was done by virtue of those 3 teams feasting on mostly chumps (except i think louisville because they beat miami), until they round-robined themselves into losses. i think the stronger (well rounded) conferences have better competition when you get outside of the conference's elite. when miami, va tech, and bc left the big east, i struggle to believe that teams all of a sudden got better, instead, i think the average became viewed as good and the less than average then became viewed as average.
last year, west virginia beat oklahoma, which is great, but last year also saw OSU (ohios state) end up backing into the national title game with a pretty weak schedule, michigan losing to a 1AA team (i dont care if people are trying to use different nomenclature, i'm still calling it 1AA), and navy snap a 43 year losing streak ... suffice it to say lots of crazy things happened last year. personally, i'm still skeptical regarding the new big east, and think it requires more time to get a bigger picture assessment of how they fall.
this year is actually going to be interesting because some of the big east OOC matchups are intriguing.
wvu - auburn
usf (i'm not sold on them being better than average) - kentucky
cincinatti - oklahoma (and hawaii, which isn't necessarily a good team but another team with a record built on beating mostly inferior competition)
i wasnt able to get too excited over any OOC on rutgers or louisville's schedule.
part of the problem is the crappy teams don't have more intriguing OOC games. when a crappy BCS team can upset an OOC BCS team, it does a lot to bolster the perceived strength of the conference.
if wvu beats auburn and the rest of the conference stinks it up, it wont help wvu look better for beating them. obviously the same is true of any conference, but because the big east has undergone more substantial changes in recent years, it means a lot more in establishing the identity.
Big East for the most part has won all the big games sice the big 3 left. And now that Pitt is rebuilding, and UCONN has did what ever it did? Plus they have Frazier. The Big East will be the second best mark it down!

you wont know that until they end up in a post season bowl and face better competition because the OOC games are pretty crummy
OOC be what they may, the fact of the matter is, when they face one of the teams who is supposed to be the "best" in a BSC they beat them!

September 18 AT Colorado (not going to look them up but they return a lot right?)
September 27 Marshall (we are forced into this game by the god of the state)
October 4 Rutgers (not OOC but top 30 team)

November 1 AT UCONN (top 30 team)
November 8 Cincinnati (top 30 team)

November 28 AT sPittsburgh who knows ? they could be a good team this year?
December 6 South Florida (def. one of the best out of FL.)
every team....and I do mean every team has a few jokes on their schedule, but it takes a few years in advance to start to iron out a better OOC. Does WVU's look that bad with the ones they all ready have? The Terps went running! lol

wvu isn't representative of the whole conference.
if anything wvu is the only team that has shown some solid legitimacy. lousiville, rutgers, usf, cinci, ... and even ucon, have shown a flash. but wvu, to date has been the only one that managed to look consistent across the 2 years since the transition. the inconsistency and the fact that historically unknowns are making some noise is the reason people won't be totally sold on the big east as a conference.
My point was.....Why in the heck would you pull the bid from the one BCS conference who gets things done?

I love how people say that in college football....Is LSU on the east coast? Is OSU there? how about the other OSU?...SC is but not the media darling "SC".....Rutgers got some attention but maybe that was because they were the FIRST football team and pretty much sucked the whole time! They could have been in Alaska and got full coverage IMO.

wvu is the best? seriously? this is an mma board where we knock fedor for not fighting top guys and i'm supposed to believe wvu is the best in the country because they win the big east, a conference that is allegedly strong because usf beat east carolina, cinci beat western michigan, cinci beat southern miss, and rutgers beat ball state ... all in 2nd or worse tier bowls? come on. because the average teams in the conference beat a mid-major in one of the many meaningless post season bowl games in college football, i'm supposed to believe those teams are better than average?
in as much as we call shenanigans on fedor for the hong man choi fight, i call shenanigans on the claim that wvu is the best. maybe this year after auburn, there will be a shred of merit to that claim, but with monsters like marshall and east carolina won't be swaying any juries.
