Toe-to-toe with female MMA sensation Gina Carano

STUDIO CITY - I caught up with female MMA sensation Gina Carano on Monday morning at the “CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights” media day at CBS Studios.

Carano stole the show on EliteXC’s debut card on Showtime on Feb. 10, 2007, when she won a unanimous decision over Julie Kedzie in an absolute slugfest.

Her fighting skills and sex appeal vaulted her into the national spotlight as the face of women’s MMA fighting.

She landed a gig as Crush on NBC’s hit show “American Gladiators” to further increase her visibility and popularity.

Carano faces Kaitlin Young on “CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights” when MMA makes its debut on network television on May 31 on CBS at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Here’s what Gina had to say:

On the pressure of fighting in primetime on CBS for the first time:

“You know, honestly, it depends on the day. Some days I feel a tremendous amount of pressure and it makes it almost hard to leave the house. And then some days it’s like shove the pressure. You know, all I can do is go out there and do what I do and do what I love to do. I’m not doing it for any other reason but that fact that I love to do it. I’m being myself and being who I am and training. There is only so much you can do.
