EliteXC-Very Brief Blog

I didn't get to watch the Adrenaline show but I am watchiing the EXC show and so far it's been pretty interesting. Before the show they announced Scott Smith-Robbie Lawler 2 will take place on the next televised CBS show July 26th. The first fight was Dave Herman vs. Ron Waterman. Waterman went for an immediate takedown and hit a few shots from the top but Herman was able to get back to his feet. He hit this sick looking jump kick grazing Waterman's face not doing too much damage but he was hitting some punches and when they were up against the cage he hit some elbows and Waterman went down. He hit a bunch of elbows and a sick knee to the ribcage and then rained down punches until the ref stepped in at a little over 2 minutes into round 1. This guy is impressive he moves around unbelievably well for a guy his size.

Next up was Ninja Rua vs. against undefeated Australian fighter Tony Bonello. Bonello came in at 16-0 with 14 submissions. It was obvious from the start that he was in way over his head as Rua took him down gained side control and landed so many unanswered elbows. He got full mount landed some punches then went back into side control and pinned Bonello's arm and hit some punches until it was stopped by the referee.

Nick Diaz vs. Mushin Corbbrey. This was a boxing match until the third round. The first two rounds Diaz used his jab and landed some good left hands. Corbbrey landed a few of his own and utilized some good dirty boxing skills but Diaz won the first two rounds. The third round Diaz finally got him down to the ground and attempted an armbar but finally acheived full mount and landed unanswered punches taking this fight by tko in the third round. Diaz wasn't a bloddy mess like usual and he was hit in the face a decent amount maybe that surgery did work.

Up next is the Lightweight championship between KJ Noons (Champion) and Yves Edwards (Challenger). I was surprised to see Edwards as the favorite here but he does have the advantage in experience. I give Noons the big edge on their feet but Edwards has a better ground game, Noons did show excellent takedown defense against Nick Diaz in their fight. Edwards has been around for a long time with wins over Hermes Franca(2X), Rich Clementi, & Josh Thomson.

Round 1- Wow a knockdown by Noons and it's over. Noons landed a sick right hand and sent Edwards to the canvas and jumped on top of him and rained down lefts & rights liek a machine gun. That was crazy!!!!! He smoked Edwards, there is no other way to put it, that was a serious ass whooping. He must have landed about 20 punches in about 15 seconds. It reminded me of Vitor Bellfort when he fought Wanderlai Silva years ago, he was punching that fast. Winner by TKO at 48 seconds of round one and still EliteXC Lightweight Champion KJ Noons.

I am still in awe, that was impressive, Edwards never had a chance to breathe, he got hit with a right, landed on his ass and Noons didn't waste any time. Keep in mind that Edwards had caught Noons with a punch a 1/2 second before he got hit with the right hand. What a win in his home state of Hawaii.

Damn.

Wait Nick Diaz is in the cage and Noons asks the fans if he deserves a rematch, the fans boo and Diaz says don't be scared homie. Next thing they go after each other, holy shit. Diaz walks up the ramp flipping Noons off, what an a**hole, he has no class. I hope Noons fights him again and knocks his ass out, that was uncalled for. Goldberg had to get involved and helped break it up.

By the way the Diaz fight was the only fight on the televised portion of the card to make it out of the first round. This show was much better than the CBS show even though the fights didn't last long they were exciting.

LOL! That whole mess at the

LOL! That whole mess at the end was great! I watched it again real quick, EXC seemed to bring Nick back (he didn't seem to come out on his own idea) and Noon's dad was screaming at the Diaz people, and started the whole riot part of that mess. Then the giant security dudes totally surrounded Shaw immediately. It took three of them. Hysterical! That should happen more often. If we must suffer thru WWE crap, then that's the crap I want to see! Smiling Also, I didn't seem to notice not one booty shaker this time. Good. Too bad they screwed us out of a half hour of undercards tho. They waste that last half hour they have dibs on every time!

I wondered what Nick was all pissy about after the fight. I guess that was it.

Thanks for keeping me up to

Thanks for keeping me up to date, King. I TiVo'd the fights, but couldn't stay away while at work tonight.

That's what separates The

That's what separates The UFC from EXC, The UFC wants no part of the WWE crap and it has no place in MMA. The basis of mixed martial arts is honor and respect and Nick Diaz has absolutely none of either trait. I was happy to see there were no girls dancing on the ramp as much as I love women there is no place for that in MMA either.

Ninja looked awesome and Noons has crazy power and speed, he has made himself into a nice fighter, he keeps talking about doing both boxing and MMA, more power to him if he can.

I know Diaz was brought back into the cage and there in lies the problem, Gary Shaw is so bad for MMA, he knew what was going to happen and to be honest with you it's disrespectful to both KJ Noons and Yves Edwards. Noons just put on a great performance and didn't even have a minute to celebrate and Edwards was being so gracious and all Shaw could think about was causing more controversy, he's an animal and should go join Vince McMahon and the circus known as professional wrestling.

So, I decided to go to the Adrenaline show after all....more on that later.... and just got done watching the Elite XC show. My thoughts....Herman could definitely be a force. He really just started hammering Waterman with those elbows.

But what is up the Diaz shit. MMa is supposed to be about respect and all and then Elite Xc has to WWE it up. I thought that sucked. Noons looked f'in amazing the quick shot to the jaw and then the claws came out. He pounced quick. I swear i couldnt see those punches....

My parting thought.,,,, hey Gary Shaw...do you want to know the difference between you and Vince McMahon. Thats right vince is making money
