Sorry, I just re-read Cofield's piece. He's giving the "loser's" edge to Larkin (in other words, calling him the bigger loser...). The wording is a bit confusing. Oh well. I posted my comment before I understood what he was saying...

I would think that a person responsible for a public corporation should be held to a higher standard than a writer who specializes in giving his opinion.

PCF, I think Cofield is holding Larkin to the higher standard in this piece. His opening paragraph is a bit confusing but you realize by the end of the article that he thinks Larkin screwed up...

I've reread the article and you are correct, it is quite confusing as to what the author's view was. In lieu of that I immediately edited my post to remove the childish insult it contained. When I resort to name-calling (which is fairly often) I would like it to be deserved....

Steve Cofield, the author of the article, responded to my email and said the following:

About the back and forth between the IFL and me: "BTW, that was not meant to pound you. I was really trying to lash out at Larkin. I don't really believe you should've apologized...But you showed class in doing so, Jay showed none with his weak apology. "

He's also re-writing the first paragraph of the article to make it more clear how he felt.

i got the inside scoop on the new first paragraph:

"This is me pounding jay larkin. and if jay larkin doesn't want to be pounded, he should have thought twice before pissing off the gay people. I'm pounding jay larkin so hard right now."
