amusing blurb from a kim couture interview
this is from an interview on mmajunkie:
Couture put to rest the rumors that she met her husband while working as a stripper. Couture said she's never stripped. In fact, the former cop later worked as a casino food and beverage director and then as an executive casino host for Wynn Las Vegas. She had a very solid reputation within the hotel-casino industry.
So how did the rumors develop? Well, UFC welterweight Matt Hughes is at least partially to blame.
"When Hughes and (Rich) Franklin were on [The Ultimate Fighter 2], I had a surprise birthday party for Randy, and I invited everybody from the show because Randy was still doing a guest coaching appearance," Couture said. "Matt went around and told the whole (production) crew, 'I would never go. Randy was my hero, and he's no longer. I can't believe he's with a stripper or a hooker' or whatever. And I'm like, 'What's he talking about?' Well, time went by, and I hated the guy. I was like, 'This guy doesn't even know me. I don't know where he's getting this information from.' I've worked my ass off and had some very prestigious jobs.
"So, he kind of knew Randy wasn't talking to him at the events we'd go to. I wasn't talking to him and was like, 'Who does this guy think he is?' He came up to me at one of the (UFC) Fight Nights, and he said ... 'I'm Matt Hughes. I'm an asshole, and I owe you an apology.' And I'm like, 'Yeah, from what I hear, you're an asshole. I don't know where you get your information from.' And he says, 'Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know, but Randy won't talk to me, and I'm going to go apologize to him now. From everybody I talk to, you're really cool, and I just never gave you a chance, and I just didn't know where you came from.'"
Obviously, Couture was confused as to why Hughes would then work the prostitution angle if he didn't know anything about her.
"I'm like, 'So, you thought you'd make up that I was a stripper and a hooker and go tell 5,000 people?'" she said.

I'm pretty sure Hughes had "reliable" and "anonymous" sources who could easily confirm his stories about Couture...
So she was riding the high hard one to make a living and now Randy has his mout all over that shiznit, that's gross.

I hope Serra gets a shot at Hughes before he retires and knocks his Matt Damon-esque head off.

You think Serra will beat Hughes? If so may I ask what kind of drugs you are on?

Name a recent fight of Hughes' that he looked good in. I believe that Serra's heavy hands, jits, and freshness would prevail. Hughes just looks worn out and done with.
Other than his big lucky hit win aginst GSP has Serra beat anyone? what is his record like 8-7? Matt Hughes is Like 45-6 or something. And did you say heavy hands? How many Ko's is on his resume?

I'm not saying that he is a striking specialist. Serra's jits > Hughes ,plus he's got a puncher's chance on the feet (he does have heavy hands when he lets them loose). Hughes has looked tired and slow in his last 3-4 fights. If he stands, he could get caught, if they go down, Serra could out work him. I'm not saying that Hughes has no chance and that he is a nobody. I'm just saying that at this point in his career, I'd give Serra the advantage. 2 years ago? Hughes would have had a huge advantage.
I also HATE Hughes! So, I have my reasons for wanting him to lose to the level of fighter like Serra and just retire.
double ko ending in double retirement?

Early in Matt Serra’s career he had notable wins over Yves Edwards and Jeff Curran other than that he had notable losses to Shonie Carter, B.J. Penn, Din Thomas, and Karo Parysian then he won a show called “Win this or You may be shit canned from the UFC” and managed to win a few fights against Chris Lytle and Georges St. Pierre, before Georges St. Pierre put him back on track.
I don’t think I really think I need to list Matt Hughes history. He is 1 year older than Serra. He is much stronger than him. Yes he has lost 3 of his last 4 but they were to GSP and Alves not a C level fighter like Serra. I would say if Serra is lucky it will end quickly in a slam he won't remember, otherwise he is going to take a beating!

Because I am not hanging on Hughes' past like you are. I am examining his most recent performances. Serra has a legitimate shot at beating Hughes. I am sure that you gave Shamrock a chance time and time again against Ortiz, right?
I would give Frank a really good chance did I give Ken a chance? NO! Now on to Hughes I think he is past his prime but I still think he can beat people like Lytle, Liaudin, and Serra. I still think he is prob a top 5 in the UFC more than likely.

It seems like both of you need an impartial breakdown of the potential Hughes-Serra match up. So let's dig a little bit deeper into this potential fight.
I'm pretty sure if both fighters were in their prime no one would argue that Hughes would be a large favorite. He was one of the most dominate champions I've ever seen in the octagon and has a record of 42-7. His only UFC loses have been to 2 current champs (Penn, St. Pierre) and the recent loss to Alves. He is one of the best wrestlers still in the UFC and has very under rated with his submissions. Lately, Hughes has not looked as explosive, fresh or confident any more. He is only about 6 monthes older than Serra but has 35 more professional fights under his belt so physically I would assume he is much older. Serra is a BJJ expert and a master in that domain. Fighters have admitted that he has heavy hands and is underrated in that department. Overall, he is only 9-5 in his career and is really an enigma lately because all we've really seen from him in the last 2 years is beat GSP, lose to GSP, and beat Chris Lytle in the finale of TUF4. How can you really judge much about him based off of that? I am extremely interested in this fight because you rarely see 2 guys that genuinely hate each other square off to settle a score.
I think the Vegas line will have Hughes as a moderate favorite but I also think Serra is a very live dog just because you don't know THAT much about him and you really don't know if Hughes has simply ran into great fighters lately or if he is past his prime and his days are numbered. This will be easy for people to say predictions on this because most people either hate Hughes or hate Serra but if you are like me and break this down, the amount of unknowns going on here is overwhelming.

so what you are saying is, that hughes is the better fighter

What I'm saying is... we know Hughes "WAS" the better fighter...
-The Captain
but was serra a better fighter ever in his career? at least do something first...(besides going on a tv show and beating a bunch of nobodies)

I agree with you, Serra never "WAS" a better fighter than Hughes, but what within the past few years has told you Hughes is better?
-The Captain
there is a difference between what i hope happens and what i would bet to happen ... i hope serra beats hughes because hughes is one of the few fighter i will almost always hope loses
given hughes' record and overall dominance in the weightclass, i wouldnt bet against him but i still hope he loses
These days, I would bet against Hughes.
2 years ago? Never.
