MMA in the Media (20/20) Kids in MMA
This is old, back from May I think. I dont remember seeing it or hearing about it before and I found it interesting.
John Stossel is hands down my favorite journalist. He is one of the few guys out there doing regular stories that I would actually call an honest-to-god true Journalist. I have read two of his books and 'Give Me a Break' literally caused me to start looking at things with a different 'political' lense. I'm a big fan.
Anyway, when I saw he did this story on kids in MMA and it was for ABC's 20/20 I cringed thinking someone I looked up to was jumping on the hype train for easy ratings. However, after reading the article, I was somewhat pleased because although he was off about there being no major studies looking in to injury rates in MMA compared to other sports, he was right on mentioning how in baseball there have been 77 deaths in the last 6 years. His general theme was that MMA is probably not as bad as many in the media like to huff and try to make it out to be.

Just thought I would share a more positive report from the 'mainstream media' if Stossel still fits in to the catagory of 'mainstream'.

Excellent find Sixtus! I hadn't seen this until now, and I also thought it was a good balanced piece. You're right, Stossel did a really good job of going out and doing hands-on interviews to bring in both points of view.
