dooooeeeeeet.

Just go check it out... I doubt you will ever regret going.

I started working out a gym because it's right next to my work about a year ago. Before I first went I just thought it was some random martial arts gym teaching TKD or something and would be a good work out conviently located next to my office so I would not have an excuse of being lazy... turns out its a well-known Pankration gym in the area tied to some legit fighters. I was a fan of MMA before that... but now I cant get enough of it. I have never had more fun working out (nor have I ever been more humbled in my life).

I suck. I won't lie... I especially dont like to be hit in the face, my take-down defense is shameful considering my wrestling background (it's just different in MMA), my strikes hit about as hard as that of a 3rd grader, and I can't keep somoene in my guard to save my life much less pull off a submission against someone who knows what the hell they are doing. What can I say? I won't be making a pro-debut any time soon - thats for sure, but I am getting better. I might be exagerating a little, but when you spar with people who know what they are doing, do it exceptionally well and have been doing it for a significant amount of years, it really can really be humbling (but in a good way).

I have a tremendous appreciation for the guys who step in the ring and the sport overall. Who knows, maybe one day I will get brave enough to try and sign up for an amature fight at one of the local events. I'm gettin too old for that though...

Anyone else on here work out at a gym for MMA? Compete?
