A Look Into The Future At UFC 100
Don’t laugh and don’t snicker UFC100 is right around the corner. I know it’s hard to believe but the time is near for the UFC’s 100th card. I can recall the first PPV I purchased which was UFC61 Bitter Rivals, this card featured rematches between Ken Shamrock & Tito Ortiz who would battle it out albeit for a short time and the third installment between Tim Sylvia and Andre Arlovski. That fight did not live up to their first two but nonetheless I was hooked beyond belief. There was also a fight between Joe Stevenson and Yves Edwards that left Edwards a bloody mess and was one of the sickest cuts I have ever seen. Although the two main fights were considerable disappointments I still couldn’t get enough.
That brings us back to the here and now as well as the future. This week we have UFC88 featuring two fights in the 205lb division. One has title implications as Chuck Liddell takes on Rashad Evans. If Liddell wins I think we all know that he will get the first crack at Forrest Griffin’s title. The second fight sees former UFC Middleweight King Rich Franklin move back up in weight to take on former TUF member Matt Hamill. In October we have two UFC cards, we have UFC89 emanating from the UK which will feature TUF season 3 winner and British born Michael Bispbing taking on TUF season 1 alumni Chris Leben. Not long after that we have UFC90 coming from Chicago featuring a MW title fight between consensus P4P King, UFC MW champ and the FightTicker.com #1 MW of the world Anderson Silva defending against another TUF alumni Canadian Patrick Cote. That leaves UFC 91 for November and UFC92 for December 27th. There is talk of Randy Couture coming back and fighting Brock Lesnar at 91 and 92 will be headlined by a HW title fight between TUF season 8 coaches Frank Mir and interim champ Antonio Noguiera.
With that being said I will get back to the main focus of this blog. If the UFC holds 1 card per month not including the UFC Fight Nights or TUF Finales then UFC 100 will be held in August of 2009. So much can happen in one years time, fighters come and go, the WEC-UFC mix should be complete and many fighters could make the choice to move up or down in weight to fight a certain opponent. I have so many thoughts for UFC100, and with it being such a milestone I wanted to get your thoughts as well. I for one would love to see some cross promotion, will it happen probably not but we can dream can’t we. I mean who wouldn’t love to see Jake Shields in the octagon or we could watch as Carlos Condit goes up against the best WW’s in the world. Where will Brock Lesnar be at with another year of training and a few more fights under his belt? We could see the evolution of lightweight prospects Frankie Edgar and Tyson Griffin into full fledge superstars. How about Anderson Silva against Cung Le or a rematch of Tito Ortiz and Wanderlai Silva? Maybe Chuck Liddell will finally get some revenge against Rampage, the possibilities are endless.
I want to know what everyone thinks, come on chime in let us be heard you never know who is reading this!!!!!

Fast forward 18 months and
Fast forward 18 months and we could potentially see the undisputed HW champ Brock Lesnar facing Fedor after Afflictions demise. LWH Chuck Liddell facing MW Champ Anderson Silva in a super-fight. LW/WW Champ BJ Penn facing GSP for part III and Torres facing Faber at a catchweight. 2009 could be a great year for MMA.....

Now you got me paranoid
Now you got me paranoid King...who is reading this?
Here is what I would like to see for UFC 100. All title belt fights. I know it would be hard but that would be cool. The entire live card event would start with Featherweight so Faber would be able to be on a PPV event and work up to LW, WW, MW. LHW. HW. The undercard would be all #1 contender fights from LW-HW. As I said, it would be too hard to pull this off but we are dreaming here are we not? Second choice would be super fights and this is more realistic. GSP vs Silva would be my choice since we are going to see GSP/Penn 2 already.
