There's probably a rapist running loose...
...but thank god the Baltimore City Police Department has shown me the ills of impeding pedestrian crosswalks with my parked car and fined me $52 for doing so.
It's the second $52 fine I've paid in a month for essentially the same "crime."
It's amazing. I'm not saying I didn't technically break the law. But, at a time when governments are experiencing budget shortages and police departments are cutting staff, it's comforting to know that they're still on top of the truly heinous crimes, isn't it?...
I sleep better at night reassured that irresponsible citizens who block pedestrian movement will be taken care of...
Thank you Baltimore City Police Department for making me feel safe!
BTW, how's that case involving that rapist going?...Which one, you ask. You know which one. Still working on it? Thought so. Thanks!

Pramit, my friend, this is
Pramit, my friend, this is nothing. As an idiot eighteen year-old, I lost my license by racking up (are you ready?) $2,247 in parking tickets, getting popped for two driving on suspendeds, stemming from my failure to pay said parking tickets. I lived in a college town where a fun game to drunk kids was to pull tickets off of cars. I knew then I was parking illegally, but thought I was getting lucky by not getting tickets. Boy, was I wrong. Worst ever. I got my license back after a year and a half. An absolute pain in the neck. I've had two parking tickets in the past 12 years, and they were paid the day I got them. Stupid teenager.

Thanks for the perspective
Thanks for the perspective TBC. It was nice to vent. It's not exactly the best way to say "Good Morning" to see a ticket on your car windshield as you're heading to work. I too am very anal about paying these fines. I'll be sending my check tonight.
Hopefully BCPD can use the money to help find KingLev...I mean that rapist...

About a month ago, I parked so that my car was on a marked crosswalk and last night I parked so that my car was parked on an unmarked crosswalk. The tickets both say "impeding/obstructing pedestrian movement" as if a pedestrian couldn't simply walk around my car. Parking's tight where I live and it was later in the evening both times so I just parked where I could find a spot.
$52 each time. I accept responsibility. Both times, the tickets were issued about an hour before I went back to my car. So, in a way it was just bad luck. Still, pisses me off...
Cops are brave people. I just hate to see the city wasting time on this stuff. On the other hand, it's easy money for them...Kind of like headlining a card with Kimbo Slice...It's not right but I get it...

cops can be retarded...
i got a ticket for urinating in public when i was 17. i had to pee so bad! it was like, 280 dollars...i finally paid my mom back last year...was it really necassary for him to pull a gun on me? he wasn't even on duty either...judge lady said if a kid saw me that i would have to register as a sex offender or some bs like that. no one was around, but i guess the off duty cop had nothing better to do than watch the dumpsters.

Thats's no joke - a buddy of mine in college had to do a ton of community service in order to get the charge reduced to urinating in public (from indecent exposure to a minor). We were left a bar to walk to another at about 11am (had been there since 6AM) on St Pattys day and he went to piss around in an ally... which happened to be right across the street where a school was... he would have to had register (according to the judge) as a Sex offender.
Had another friend who in college stole a sorority house's mailbox as a prank (the sorority had painted our mailbox pink the week before) and we were going to replace it with a much more obscene one... he was running down the street with thier mailbox in hand and cops stopped him. Arrested him for FELONY vandalism and theft of FEDERAL property. He got it reduced with a ton of community service - but it was really scary for him for a while sitting there with felony charges.
STUPID silly things can quickly get blown WAY out of proportion...

Exactly Ticker. The rules
Exactly Ticker. The rules don't apply to celeberties. My favorite is when they do thier animal rights activism and afterwards grab thier fancy LEATHER purse, shuffle off in their fancy LEATHER shoes and get in thier fancy cars with LEATHER seats... or when they fly in on thier PRIVATE JET stocked with lots of expensive PLASTIC fancy bottled water to have thier 'save the planet' and 'go-green' fundraisers telling us not to drive SUVs and "down with the oil companies" and then later the same day fly (again in their private, fuel sucking, jets with leather seats) to go take thier fourth vacation of the year in Europe...

Yeah man, you gotta be
Yeah man, you gotta be careful with that sort of BS, cause like TBC pointed out it can be a real slippery slope. Once those pricks have got you where they want you they'll keep pumping you for as much revenue as possible and some of the stuff they pin to you can stick for life, screwing up your insurance rates for years to come--hell, it might even cost you a job because it's a "crime" you have to disclose any time someone does a background check on you.
Case in point: a friend of mine who owns a crotch rocket and likes to ride really fast down the freeway got caught speeding by a cop. The problem was he couldn't hear the sirens through his helmet and didn't notice the cops were following him for about a mile or so, so he got a resisting arrest charge pinned on him. Thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of community service and court time later some idiotic dude decided to pick a fight with a friend of his in the parking lot of an Azteca, and even though he didn't participate a cop that showed up there found him guilty of a parole violation, so he had to serve 90 days suspended jail time. He used to be a coworker of mine, but needless to say he lost his job when he had to serve time.
The best advice I can give you is if you've got the time, go and contest that sh*t. Sometimes they'll overturn it even if it's clear you were at fault--just come up with a good persuasive argument as to why you had to park there. Also, never hurts to have a good attorney. Even though they're blood sucking leeches they know the system and can clear up charges that might otherwise haunt you for a lifetime. Here's mine: Chuck Watson extremely expensive, but worth every penny if I ever need him.

These stories are quite scary. I'm all paid up with these fines so I hope they don't get blown out of proportion. Cross fingers...
