i voted for dante rivera performance. at least starnes threw a few jabs here and there and was doing something other than holding his opponent. i'm with eers, i was laughing, most i've laughed during a UFC event ever...

While I did not see the

While I did not see the Starnes fight, I can't really imagine that any proformance could have been worse. I have to say it was a failure by more than just Dante. Steve Mazz has to take some of the blame also and don't even get me started about the refs.

I enjoyed Dante's fight less

I enjoyed Dante's fight less because the wrong person won... At least the outcome in Starnes fight was appropriate...

How's this a contest? You

How's this a contest?

You have one fighter who literally runs away and the other guy stalls the action and we're putting those on the same playing field. Dante threw punches, Starnes ran. Dante stood in and fought, worked on the ground and Starnes ran away from any sort of engagement.

There's a reason why Starnes lost every single round 10-8 (which is something that almost never happens in MMA) and Dante's fight was at least close.

Do I think that the decision was a little shady? Yes, I do.

Do I think that the performance was as bad as Starnes'? Hell no.

If Dante ran away, this would be a contest, but he moved forward, he attacked and occassionally did some work. As bad as his performance might have been, don't be pissed just because he beat one of the guys on here. If you think he should have lost the decision, call bullsh*t on the decision, don't call him out on his performance by comparing him to a fight as bad as Starnes when you know that they're not comparable.

Still IronMan, even though

Still IronMan, even though Dante fought, the point was that he basically laid on top of Brandon the entire fight, barely even throwing a punch or an elbow. He did this because he knew that's how he could win the fight taking the least amount of risk possible. He took the easy way out--and that's what Starnes did as well, so that's why the comparison has been drawn. And I think it's a fair one, because laying and praying isn't the same as really bringing a fight...

I think the best point to

I think the best point to make is that both guys decided they were going to collect their paycheck and call it a night, Starned should have been fined like they would have done in Pride and Dante should have been deducted a point for his lack of activity.

this is comparable because

this is comparable because both performances weren't any good. dante rivera held his opponent for 15 minutes where as starnes ran away for 15 minutes. i find this very comparable, seeing we were all wondering why starnes and rivera were doing what they were doing. why was dante just laying and praying and why was starnes just running? both of their opponents were frustrated. they both did not fight.

who's performance did you enjoy least?

comparable.

i called bullshit on the decision too. i called bullshit on steve mazzagati for telling them to break, then dante tripped sene and steve said "okay fight!" that wasn't right either. dante had no other takedown than trying to trip sene. and once he got him down he did nothing, sene was working the whole fight. he should have been able to stop a few of those trips, but he didn't. but does that mean because he got tripped he lost the whole fight because dante just layed on top of him? that's a cheap way to win, and i know, dante is a very experienced blah blah blah. but you can't tell he had a 10-2 record. he looked very inexperienced and looked lost on the ground. where was his jujitsu that we all heard about?

so who's performance did you enjoy least? both performances were not enjoyable. as much as i was confused as to why starnes was running away, i got a few laughs in because of quarry and his jog. i did not enjoy dante's performance because it was a boring fight. he did more laying and praying than rashad evans and KOS combined, and you would by lying if you said you enjoyed any of evans or KOS fights...(before KOs head ko'd that hazlet guy recently)
