UFC.com is reporting that middleweight Michael Bisping will now fight Jason Day at UFC 85. Day replaces Chris Leben, who must serve jail time in Oregon due to a probation violation.

Like Bisping, Day last fought at UFC 83 in Montreal, Canada, defeating Alan Belcher in his Octagon debut.

Day ran through Belcher, but

Day ran through Belcher, but idk bout the matchup in terms of a name. He goes from undercard to co-main event fight? It should be a slugfest

This card is getting more

This card is getting more and more weak by the day. When does Matt Hughes or Alves go down with an injury next?

To quote my son's favorite poem Captain O Captain...Please don't tell me you think Bisqueen will walk through Day! look at who they have faced! Day should walk in the favorite right?

day shouldn't be the

day shouldn't be the favorite in the sports books...

but IMO this is a bad matchup for bisping. i wouldn't be surprised if either wins, but the last thing bisping needs is to lose to someone with a huge name.

Were is my numbers guy when

Were is my numbers guy when I need him? I bet when the win they are added up Day's numbers look alot better.....Bisping's first 15 fights (or what ever) was against guys who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

I haven't seen Day's fight

I haven't seen Day's fight against Belcher yet but it's a pretty impressive win for an Octagon debut.

However, looking over the rest of Day's resume, I wouldn't say it's overly impressive. Win over Loiseau (who's catching a beatdown everywhere he goes these days) and loss to Cote.

I'd give Bisping the edge because he's been fighting in the UFC for longer and trains with Rampage and Ibarra...

But, like I said, I need to watch the Day-Belcher fight. I was surpised to find out that Belcher had lost that night...

Fight Ticker, how do you

Fight Ticker, how do you think Bisping would do against Jonathan Goulet or Alan Belcher? I'm pretty sure I remember you saying Alan would beat him before right? Day has beaten both of these guys.

That's right. Goulet was on

That's right. Goulet was on his resume too. I forgot about that.

I did have Belcher winning that fight. I was very surprised when Day won. I'm not saying Day's bad, by any means. I just haven't seen the Belcher fight yet. Dana White sounded impressed with Day after that fight so I'm sure he's got skills...

But, you have a valid point -- Day's resume is decent but not so great that I'd say that he'll certainly walk over Bisping...

I liked what I saw from Bisping at 83. At middleweight he could do some work. But, Day is intriguing for sure...

Should be a much better fight than most think it will be...Can't see a clear advantage going to either honestly...

Right on cue, espn.com has a

not sure if eers was

not sure if eers was referring to me as the numbers guy, but here's what i put together (because i am clearly busy in my cubicle)

Day:
17-5
opponents with losing or 500 records: 9
Opponents total record: 172-114-1
Average record: 7.82-5.18-0.05
Average win % of opponents: .559

Bisping:
15-1
opponents with losing or 500 records: 7
Opponents total record: 111-86-5
Average record: 6.94-5.38-0.31
Average win % of opponents: .549

more or less, i think the numbers paint a pretty even picture, but Day has what i believe to be more notable wins against loisseau, belcher, goulet and a loss to cote (people that have all fought better than average guys)

bispings list is a bit more questionable ... his best opponent (in terms of experience against established fighters) is either rashad evans or elvis sinosic, who pretty much loses to every worthwhile opponent he has (although elvis somehow beat jeremy horn)
what's even more funny, bisping has 2 wins against a guy that lost to elvis
schafer, mccarthy and hamill dont have notable wins really (mccarthy has a loss to loisseau too)

nice breakdown Bosco. does

nice breakdown Bosco. does anyone know what the early betting line is on this?

Bisping will be a huge

Bisping will be a huge favourite on the early line I suspect. Not because he is so much better then Day but people who casually follow the sport will view this a huge mismatch and think Bisping will walk all over Day. It's the classic celebrity factor. Could be a good time to make some money on Day...if he wins.

I wasn't saying Bisbing will

I wasn't saying Bisbing will walk through Day, I do believe this could be a good fight, I'm just saying he doesn't have much of a name. Leben is a pretty good name being from TUF and being one of the more wild members of the cast.

I can agree with that and I

I can agree with that and I can also agree that if your going to be a selling feature on the headline ticket people should know who the Hell you are. Day is a talented fighter...but he isn't a name...he has zero celeb status and aside from hardcores nobody knows who he is. So I ask you how can he sell tickets and PPV's? Bisping vs Butterbean would carries more star power...although why anyone wanna watch Butterbean do anything is beyond me.
