Report: Matt Hamill to be subject of movie

UFC.com is reporting that UFC light heavyweight Matt Hamill is the subject of an upcoming movie based on the early years of his life.

The movie, titled "Hamill", is currently in the casting process but has already met with criticism. Why? Because some members of the deaf community object to the starring role being played by a non-deaf actor. Hamill is deaf but the actor playing him, Eben Kostbar, is not.

On the other hand, Kostbar is fluent in American Sign Language and is also a wrestler like Hamill.

As Hamill says in the report, “I was really shocked by the reaction. I thought the movie would receive positive feedback from the deaf community because this movie is based on a deaf athlete and the life surrounding his deafness. It hurt at first, but I've come to realize that this is a small portion of the deaf community. With positive things, comes the negative things. If anything, it has kept me grounded.”

Hamill, a TUF 3 alum, won his last fight against Tim Boetsch at UFN 13.

I think Tito would have been a better choice for this role. It has Oscar written all over it. I agree with Papa.
